The Han river separates Seoul and offers many great places to relax and catch a breath from the busy city. There are countless bike and walking paths and parks alongside the river that you can pay a visit to. I unfortunately never got around to renting a bike and just traveling along the river for a prolonged period of time, but I certainly took plenty of walks along the river. It’s very calm and relaxing, and the paths are always well-maintained and clean.
It’s also a great place to discover some particularities of Korean food and delivery culture and get your food delivered right to the river, as demonstrated here:
Once again, I’m not really sure what else there is to say. Rivers are nice, and it’s nice to walk or hang out around them. Hangang certainly is no exception to that. So I’ll just keep this brief and share a few of my favorite pictures:
It’s also worth noting that there is about a 85% chance of encountering some fishermen if you are ever near any body of water, no matter the time.
My favorite spot was probably this little artificial island near Dongjak station. I took walks from Heukseok station to this little place quite often, hung out on a rocking bank and watched the sunset. Highly recommended. And yes, I’m a senior citizen at heart and have been since at least Kindergarten.
